Why Van Remapping in Haverhill & Surrounding Areas?

Many vans leave the factory with restricted performance, making them slow, sluggish and unsafe to drive, but also underpowered to complete basic tasks like carrying heavy tools or materials or towing a trailer.
Van manufactuers typically provide a low power, medium power and higher power model - and the power outputs are controlled by the engine control unit (ECU) software. Very few of the higher power models were sold, meaning most vans are woefully underpowered for trade or commercial use.
This provides the opportunity for engine tuners and remappers like Optimal Automotive to transform the driveability of these vehicles via our van remapping and van tuning service.
We regularly work with tradespeople, delivery drivers, motorhome owners and fleet operators from Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket, Sudbury and beyond who want:
-
Better acceleration.
-
Safer overtaking.
-
More load carrying capability.
-
Ability to tow trailers and heavy equipment.
-
A cost effective and permanent solution to AdBlue, DPF and EGR faults.
Van models we remap across Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire
At Optimal Automotive, we can tune most diesel and petrol vans on the road. So if you’re based in Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket, Sudbury, or happy to travel to us near Haverhill, chances are we can remap your van and completely overhaul its performance.
Here are the most common vans we remap, and the typically performance gains:

A T6 102bhp model can gain up-to 75bhp and 110Nm

2.0 HDI engine can gain up-to 80bhp and 120Nm.

Up-to 80bhp and 100Nm extra, from the 100bhp base model.

A T6 102bhp model can gain up-to 75bhp and 110Nm
Has your van got a speed limiter? We can help.

It's common for vans and commercial vehicles to have speed limiters, often set below the legal limit for the weight class.
If your van has an annoying limiter making overtaking difficult or dangerous, we can raise this to the legal limit for your vehicle.
A speed limiter adjustment can be done with or sometimes without a remap, so send us a message to confirm.
Van dyno tuning

At Optimal Automotive, we like to validate the performance gains from our remaps using our DynoPro dynamometer and Dragy GPS measuring device. Most remappers provide a 'flash and dash' style service, with no results validation whatsoever - but we are different and have invested extensively to provide a superior experience.
You can purchase a digital copy of the before and after dyno runs as a record of the power and torque improvement from a stage 1 van remap or custom van tune.
So if you’re looking for proven gains or a custom dyno tune for your van, Optimal Automotive is the logical choice in Haverhill area and the wider area of Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire.
Here are some examples of dyno results from vans we have remapped.
Van Emissions System Problem Solving - AdBlue, EGR and DPF
Has your van got an AdBlue countdown warning? Are you stuck in limp mode? Is the DPF light on again?
At Optimal Automotive, we help van owners from Haverhill, Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket and beyond to avoid costly downtime and interruption to your business. Our software solutions to common emissions problems are cost-effective and completed in a few hours.
The common van emissions issues we solve:
-
AdBlue System Faults: NOx sensors, NOx injectors, pump failures, heater failures, level sensor failures and tank pressure faults.
-
EGR system problems: Carbon build-up or seized EGR valves and EGR cooler blockages.
-
DPF blockages: Due to short journeys around town, vans typically get soot accumulation issues and aren't able to regenerate frequently enough.
-
PAT fluid system failure: Due to the PAT fluid tank running empty, the pump commonly burns out. These issues can be resolved as part of a DPF solution.
Emissions systems solutions are for off-road use, diagnostic testing purposes, or for vehicles exported outside of the EU. You accept, at your own responsibility, all potential penalties that may result from driving a vehicle on the road with a modified emissions system(s). If you bring your vehicle to us for an emissions solution, you should use a recovery vehicle to get it home.

Van remapping FAQs
Is van remapping a safe option for my work van?
Yes. We never ignore reliability to achieve unsafe performance gains. Our maps are proven time and time again, so you can be sure of a quality experience - provided your van is in full working order.
Will a van remap affect my MOT?
No. A gearbox remap is fully road-legal, and your MOT will be unaffected. However, emissions solutions are for off-road use only and not legal in the UK or EU.
Is it a good idea to remap a high mileage van?
Most vans we tune have more than 100k miles on the clocks, so our approach is to assess the condition of the engine rather than just the odometer value. As long as your van passes our pre-tuning health check, we would consider it ready to be remapped.
Can you remove van speed limiters?
In many cases, yes. Provided the speed limiter is factory fitted, we should be able to adjust it to a satisfactory but legal level.
Will my van get better fuel economy?
If you only travel within your local town, it's unlikely you will see an improvement in MPG after a van remap. However, when making a longer journey at dual carriageway or motorway speeds, you could see up-to 10% better MPG.
